Building MedTech Synergies at Olympus’ Worldclass Corporate Campus
Jeff Champagne, of Champagne Strategic Advisers, LLC and Vice Chairman of MedTech Association, learned a lot about the Massachusetts approach to medtech ecosystems at a recent event coordinated by MetroWest Life Sciences Network (Boston, Mass.) and medtech company Olympus (Westborough, Mass.). At the event, Jeff joined dozens of dignitaries, including vice-presidents and managers from medtech companies in the European Union, Asia and South America for a tour of Olympus’ Westborough campus, which showcased the technology and innovation that the company offers the region.
Opened in April 2021, the Westborough campus serves as the Americas headquarters for Olympus’ medical business and the global headquarters for its Therapeutic Solutions Division. Event participants had the opportunity to tour the Olympus Continuum Training and Education Center with wetlab, where hands-on learning opportunities help healthcare providers strengthen procedural skills, enhance outcomes, and uphold the highest levels of patient care. Touring dignitaries were impressed with the amenity-rich office setting, with onsite café, fitness center, health rooms, mother’s rooms, full service day care center, walking paths, locker rooms and access to biking trails.
“During this era of ‘quiet quitting,’ this tour was an example of how corporations are making a great effort to connect with employees around the importance of quality workplace offerings,” Champagne said. “It’s our plan to build a bridge to more closely link our communities – Massachusetts and New York have so much in common and also ways they complement each other, from workforce development initiatives to world-class companies to talent streams.”
“Olympus is always looking for partnerships with other life-science leaders to grow world-class skills within the regions where it has a presence, as well as to create other important synergies,” said Richard Reynolds, Olympus Medical Systems Group president. “We’re grateful to MetroWest Life Sciences Network and to all the attendees for their interest in the work we do toward helping our customers elevate the standard of care.”
